I was appalled when reading Jeff Frazee’s article. I respect Frazee’s opinion and his freedom of speech but I feel his article misrepresents the majority of Texas A&M students and makes unnecessary radical comments unfit for our newspaper. First, to say that George W. Bush is “seeking a Trotsky-like permanent revolution for democracy” is uncalled for. Not only should Bush not be compared to Leon Trotsky, the founder of the Red Army and one of the leaders in the creation of communism in Russia, Trotsky and Bush should not be even mentioned in the same sentence. Second, I do not know how any true American can utter the phrase, “the United States needs to focus on national defense and quit provoking terrorist activity.” This insinuates that American behavior was somewhat responsible for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. No American or Aggie should have the irreverence and disrespect towards our President and country that these comments suggest.
