It is sad to see that the Bush administration has killed political discourse in America. There are still those of us who object to the human rights violations, the intentionally arrogant Bush doctrine or the myriad laws enacted to aid the wealthy. We are told to discard our morality for that of those who persecute us. We must do this in order to heal the country.
But, we have no reason to “heal,” because none of our concerns have been addressed. This president refuses to compromise, or even to understand our position and therefore does not represent us. We are bracing ourselves for four years of diminishing civil liberties, an utter lack of respect for sovereignty in foreign policy and relegation to second class citizenship by the ruling regime. Do not ask us to be happy about it.
