Being Hispanic myself I don’t see how diversifying Texas A&M would mean sacrificing our “uniqueness.” Each person’s race and culture brings something to A&M.
Minorities have been a part of this University for a long time, and I know Hispanics have been attending for a large part of the University’s history. So where do you come off saying that diversity is not a part of A&M or we will not appreciate the traditions? I came here because of the traditions and atmosphere that you speak of, as I am sure many of the students here did. It is what makes A&M so appealing to any person, no matter hid ethnicity.
“I don’t think we should endeavor to attract those who are uninterested in engineering and agriculture.” Do you realize that statement just alienated half of the University and not just the minorities? And does not becoming like UT mean that A&M must remain – always and forever – white, conservative and have students interested in only agriculture and engineering?
Mail Call – Half of the University isn’t ag or engineering
