Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel has been suspended for the first-half of the season opener against Rice, according to Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com.
Sources close to the situation said the half-game suspension comes as an agreement between Texas A&M and the NCAA in order to officially close the investigation into Manziel regarding the offseason autograph scandal, which broke one day prior to fall camp.
Head coach Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies will be forced to start either junior Matt Joeckel or true freshman Kenny Hill against the Owls at noon Saturday at Kyle Field.
