In an effort to educate people about Chinese culture, the Confucius Institute gave the community a “Taste of China.”
The event, held Saturday at College Station High School, involved activities ranging from the making of Chinese dragon puppets to the tasting of Asian cuisine.
The Confucius Institute has been a part of A&M for about seven years. Bob Deroche, Taste of China volunteer, has been connected to the program for five years and said the goals of the program are to educate people on what China is all about concerning the culture and the language.
“There is a partnership between TAMU and Ocean University in Qingdao, China, which is southeast of Beijing,” Deroche said. “A lot of the professors come here and kind of exchange ideas.”
