The Texas A&M Board of Regents selected Cliff Thomas as its chairman and Elaine Mendoza as its vice chairman Wednesday, according to a press release.
Thomas received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and was appointed to the Board of Regents by Gov. Rick Perry in 2011. On May 1, 2013, Thomas was elected to serve as vice chairman of the Board and is currently a liaison to the 12th Man Foundation. Thomas served as chair for the 2011 search committee for chancellor of the A&M System and led the 2014-2015 search committee for the new A&M president.
Mendoza received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in aerospace engineering and received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Dwight Look College of Engineering in April 2013. Mendoza was appointed to the Board of Regents in 2011 and currently serves as chair of the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs.
Thomas and Mendoza will serve as chairman and vice chairman of the Board of Regents, respectively, until Feb. 1, 2017.
