Advertising with The Battalion or Maroon Life

 

With nearly a million annual page views, access to tens of thousands of students and community members through our physical print publications and accommodating prices and discounts, Texas A&M Student Media is a wonderful place to advertise both local and national content. TASM offers advertising opportunities through its print newspaper — The Battalion — and magazine — Maroon Life — online website, in-person stands, bi-weekly newsletters — The Battalion Blast — and social media.

The Battalion is Texas A&M’s award-winning print newspaper which distributes 4,500 copies in over 50 locations across campus and the Bryan-College Station area, including the most trafficked buildings at A&M. The Battalion is a weekly newspaper, producing 30 scheduled prints each academic year. 

Maroon Life, Texas A&M’s award-winning magazine, produces six prints each academic year distributed to the same stands.

TASM acceptance and sales policies

  • The student business manager and associate director make all final decisions concerning the acceptability of advertising.
  • The Battalion and Maroon Life reserves the right to reject advertising that it considers objectionable. Commercial advertising that discriminates based on race, creed, color, handicap, age, gender or sexual orientation will not be accepted. 
  • Make-goods or credit adjustments will be made when errors occur in advertising as a result of the sales desk or editorial content team. 
  • It is the responsibility of the advertiser to notify The Battalion and/or Maroon Life of errors. 
  • We will not knowingly accept advertising determined to be illegal. Advertisements for products, services or promotions that are illegal in Texas will be rejected. 

Credit policies and payment

  • Accounts holding a past-due amount for over 30 days or more must pre-pay for the next advertisement in The Battalion or Maroon Life. 
  • Accounts overdue by 90 days will be turned over to third-party collections. 
  • All advertising or campaign purchases in The Battalion or Maroon Life can be paid through the FlyteDesk invoicing system. 
  • Invoices will be sent prior to the run date. For single advertisements, invoices must be paid within a week of the run date. For campaigns, invoices must be paid within a week of the final run date. 
  • Advertisers may cancel their purchase before the creative deadline at no cost. Cancellations made after the space deadline date will receive a 50% reimbursement. Advertisers who cancel on or after the creative deadline are responsible for the full amount of the advertisement. 

Non-electronic payments

  • If paying by cash or check, the business desk should be notified upon confirmation. Advertisers still have one week after the run date to complete their payment.
  • Cash is accepted in the business office at MSC L400, Texas A&M University, 275 Joe Routt Blvd, College Station, TX 77843. 
  • Personal/business checks should be mailed to MSC L400, Texas A&M University, 275 Joe Routt Blvd, College Station, TX 77843. 

Special rates, payment methods and deadlines

  • For print advertisements in The Battalion, commitments to spaces must be made on the Thursday before printing and creative must be submitted on the Friday before printing. Both deadlines are at 3 p.m. Advertisers will receive an invoice upon confirmation and have a week after the advertisement runs to submit payment. 
  • For print advertisements in Maroon Life, commitments to spaces must be made on Wednesday, a month prior to printing and creative must be submitted on Wednesday three weeks prior to printing. Both deadlines are at 3 p.m. Advertisers will receive an invoice upon confirmation and have a week after the advertisement runs to submit payment. 
  • The business office can aid in advertisement design for an additional fee. The business office must be notified of assistance in advertisement design upon confirmation of space. Advertisers must send assets and design information upon confirmation. See page 13 of the media kit above for design pricing. If not mentioned upon confirmation, it is the advertisers responsibility to submit the advertisement at 3 p.m. on the creative deadline. 
  • Multi-platform package discounts are when advertising through the paper, magazine. website, newsletter, social media and racks are offered. See the media kit above for discounts. 
  • Non-profit organizations automatically receive a 20% discount on all advertising.
