The first Silver Taps of the Fall semester will be held next Tuesday, Sept. 8.
While Silver Taps is traditionally held on the first Tuesday of every month as necessary, the first Silver Taps of the year is held on the second week to allow students time to adjust to their new academic schedules.
“Due to the stress of the first week of classes, student services has elected to move Silver Taps to the second Tuesday of the month this month to allow more people to get settled into their class schedules so that we have a better turnout at Silver Taps,” said Erin Posey, biomedical sciences senior and Silver Taps committee chair.
Silver Taps is a Texas A&M tradition that serves as a final tribute to any current undergraduate or graduate student who dies during the year. It is held traditionally on the first Tuesday of the month, and honors any student who died the previous month. Six students will be honored at next week’s Silver Taps in Academic Plaza.
