In a memorandum Thursday, Chancellor John Sharp requested that all vice presidents at the flagship College Station campus submit resignations.
Letters of resignation are to be submitted before the May 1 start date of incoming A&M president Michael K. Young.
In the memo, Sharp said the decision comes to allow Young to create “the latitude he needs to create his own leadership team that best serves his vision for the University’s future.”
The request is directed to seven vice presidents, plus the CEO of the Health Science Center and the CEO of Texas A&M at Galveston.

“President Young did not request this decision, but I believe it is in the best interests of the University, and I plan to apply it to future transitions at the other System universities and to the Chancellor’s office,” Sharp states in the memo.
Young will have no later than May 1, 2016, to decide which resignations to accept.
