I was really pulling for the Wildcats, but Kansas and their NBA talent were just too good. KSU was able to keep it close enough that you thought they might have a shot at it, but in reality it would’ve taken quite a run for them to knock off Kansas.
“Definitely they are an athletic team,” KSU senior Cartier Martin said. “They rebound the ball well. They have some young guys that can do – they are a very versatile team. In order for us to beat those guys, I think we have a small margin of error.”
It seemed like whenever the Jayhawks needed a stop or needed a bucket, they were able to get it. Kansas seemed to have two different levels of play; their talent just allows them to do that.
“I don’t know if – it seemed like to me they were getting every loose ball for a five or seven minute stretch,” Bill Self said. “So much rebounding is not blocking out, it’s chasing down loose ball and just being active.”
The loss puts Kansas State in a precarious position in terms of their NCAA bid, but I really think that after beating Tech by 21 yesterday they should be in no matter what.
“I think the truth to tell them (the selection committee) is look how far – this is a good basketball team now. And they have proven they are a good basketball team,” Bob Huggins said. “They have proven that throughout a very difficult conference.”
After watching our ninth game in 3 days from courtside, Brent and I have decided to watch the Texas and Oklahoma State battle from the rafters. We’ll be on the last row in the upper deck, just trying to get a fresh perspective.
Kansas, too Talented, too Good
