A Texas A&M student reported to the police that she was assaulted in Bryan while jogging Wednesday morning, said Walt Melnyk, the public information officer for the Bryan Police Department (BPD).
The 23-year-old student, whose name has not been released, told police that she was jogging on Booneville Road near Curtis Street 7 a.m. Wednesday, when two males in a beige, two-door older model car stopped her and asked for directions, Melnyk said. She then told police that after asking for directions, the men grabbed her, she fought back, and then they physically assaulted her, and she fled, he said.
Melnyk said the student was injured with a laceration on her side and she was not sexually assaulted. He said she described the suspects as white males in their mid 30s.
Melnyk said BPD is still investigating her report and trying to gather information on the allegations.
“We are in the information gathering stage right now,” Melnyk said. “There are no witnesses that we know of.”
