Texas A&M will host a celebration for the retirement of Reveille VIII April 29.

The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. at the Clayton Williams Jr. Alumni Center and will be open to the public. Guests will be allowed to take photos with Reveille VIII, who has served as the A&M mascot for seven years.

Remarks by university officials will be made at 4:30 p.m., and the ceremony will conclude with a “mix and mingle” for guests from 5-6 p.m, according to a university release.

Reveille IX was chosen earlier this semester and will assume her role May 9 at the Corps of Cadets “Final Review” Ceremony. At this time Reveille VIII will officially retire to the Stevenson Companion Animal Life-Care Center operated by Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where she will continue to receive special care.
