Firehouse Subs awards grant to A&M firefighter school

The Firehouse Public Safety Foundation awarded the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) a $25,000 grant to fund scholarships for their fire and emergency response training program. TEEX has been providing fire training for emergency responders since 1929, when Texas A&M University was selected as the site for a permanent firefighter training school.
Created in 2005, the foundation was started with the intention of providing funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities for first-responders and public safety entities.
Robin Peters, executive director of the foundation said part of their foundation is for education.
We were honored and humbled when we heard about Firehouse wanting to make this donation, said Gordon Lohmeyer, associate division director of TEEX.
Lohmeyer said they plan to use the donation to fund 16 full scholarships to new students, along with awarding three outstanding students with a tuition reimbursement at the end of their schooling.
