Reveille VIII will retire, according to an email addressed to the student body from interim president Mark Hussey.
“Reveille VIII, who has faithfully served as the Texas A&M mascot, will formally retire following Final Review at the conclusion of the spring 2015 semester or upon selection of her successor,” Hussey said. “Until that time, she will continue to function in her current role as the First Lady of Aggieland.”
Reveille VIII has been Texas A&M’s mascot since her introduction to campus in August 2008, following the retirement of her predecessor Reveille VII. Reveille, or “Miss Rev,” is the highest-ranking member of the Corps of Cadets.
A review board comprised of 12 members led by interim vice president for student affairs Tom Reber will decide the successor for Reveille VIII. More information will be available to the public soon.
