Aggie softball thrases Buccaneers in fall opener

The Aggie softball team began their fall season victorious with a score of 13-3 against the nearby Blinn Buccaneers at the Aggie Softball Complex Wednesday night. The exhibition was the Aggies first live game action since last May, where the Aggies concluded the season with a loss to then-No. 7 Oklahoma in the Norman Regional.
Senior Rachel Fox took the mound for the Aggies and pitched five innings, allowing two hits and striking out six. Freshman Kayla Ober also threw three innings in her Aggie debut.
Junior Cali Lamphear and freshman Tori Vindales led the Aggies offensively. Vindales finished the game with three hits, including a two-run home run in the first inning. Lamphear also hit a two-run homer of her own in the seventh inning.
The Aggies had seven freshman play Wednesay, very different from the senior-laden team last season. The Aggies hope that this fall season will give these freshman and the upperclassmen time to mesh and produce come Spring.
The Aggies continue their fall schedule next Wednesday with a doubleheader against Tyler Junior College at the Aggie Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
