Intramural recreational basketball team The Loser Bracket Champs secured a 78-72 victory against CTESPN on Feb. 14 at the Student Rec Center.

Currently on a 2 game winning streak, the team said they plan to be in the winner bracket playoffs this season after winning the loser bracket last year. Team captain and sophomore Matthew Singleton said his teammates showed effort and grit in the second game of the season against CTESPN.

Sophomores Caden Marshall and Isaac Graham led the team in scoring with 25 points and 20 points, respectively.

“Everyone was clicking on all cylinders,” Marshall said. “It was really nice to see our team come together like that tonight.”

During the Fall 2023 intramural basketball season, the Loser Bracket Champs took home first place in the loser bracket division.

“Last year we had a lot of injuries, which is why we were on the losers bracket,” Graham said. “We are not going for the loser’s bracket, we are going for the winner’s bracket and with that win we secured a spot.”

As they near the playoffs, the Loser Bracket Champs said they intend to take each game one at a time and win it all. The next game is Feb. 28 vs. Bucket Squad at 10:45 p.m. on Court 3.
