Students protested weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin during the company’s Nov. 5 campus visit.
At the Student Engineering Council’s “Lunch and Learn” program in the Zachry Engineering Education Complex, roughly a dozen individuals peacefully protested allegations of the use of weapons against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, which they allege were Lockheed Martin supplies.
The students gathered at the event to distribute fliers and display signs with information showing Lockheed Martin’s weapon distribution to Israel. The flyers also alleged that financial ties with Israel defrauded U.S. taxpayers.
The students urged others not to work for Lockheed Martin and added specific information about what kind of weapons are being given to Israel, such as Hellfire missiles and various fighter aircraft.
“LHM’s subsidiary, Sikorsky, manufactures the CH-53K King Stallion Heavy Lift Helicopter, which is used to transport Israeli soldiers to-and-from their genocidal operations in Gaza,” the flier reads. “As of June 24, 2024: LHM just reached a $70 million settlement for overcharging the Navy for aircraft parts.”
Campus police responded to a call and interrupted the protest.
