Texas A&M men’s basketball earned a 10-seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament and will face 7-seed Saint Mary’s in the first round, as announced on Sunday’s March Madness Selection Show. The Aggies will travel to Oklahoma City to make their fourth straight March Madness appearance — first under head coach Bucky McMillan — against the Gaels on Thursday, March 19.
The winner of that matchup will play the winner of 2-seed Houston versus Big Sky Conference Tournament champion 15-seed Idaho on Saturday, March 21.
“When they tip that ball up, it hits you that you’re playing for a national championship,” McMillan said. “You can either go to be a part of the show and part of the circus, or you can go to play good basketball. We want to be back here next weekend talking about the Sweet 16.”
Saint Mary’s finished the regular season as No. 21 in the AP Poll with a West Coast Conference record of 16-2 and 27-5 overall. The Gaels make their fifth straight March Madness appearance against the Aggies, having advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s second round in 3 of the last 4 years.
“At this point, we’re brothers,” graduate student forward Rashaun Agee said. “The best thing is doing it for each other and understanding where we started. It’s another day in the office. We have to go in and do what we do.”
If the Maroon and White make it to the second weekend, they will play in Houston and face either 3-seed Illinois, 6-seed North Carolina, 11-seed VCU or 14-seed Pennsylvania.
“Nothing really matters until March,” senior guard Rylan Griffen said. “You get remembered for what you did in March, not anything you did before that. It’s a new season right now for everybody. There are no redos this time.”
