No. 20 Texas A&M baseball’s freshman third baseman Nico Partida was selected as Perfect Game’s Midseason Freshman of the Year, as announced on Tuesday, March 31.
As a member of Pearland High School’s 2025 graduating class, Partida withdrew from the MLB Draft to play for A&M, entering the 2026 season ranked No. 16 in Perfect Game USA’s Top-100 Freshman.
Partida has started in each of the Aggies’ first 27 games with a .320 batting average, recording seven longballs, 28 runs and 23 RBIs. The Manvel native’s home run numbers rank first among Southeastern Conference freshmen and second among the Maroon and White. The star freshman has logged 11 multi-hit offensive outings and six multi-RBI games.
In A&M’s run-rule routing of Georgia on March 22, Partida recorded four hits and six RBI, most notably launching his first offering of the fourth inning past the right field wall for the first grand slam of his career.
Against Missouri on March 28, Partida secured the first multi-homer performance of his career with a two-run blast in the fourth frame and a solo shot in the eighth.
A&M’s star freshman will take the field against Vanderbilt on Thursday, April 2, at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies will host their second conference series of the season, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
