Despite the field crew’s best efforts, No. 18 Texas A&M baseball had no choice but to call its series against No. 2 Texas finished after two games thanks to lingering rain and lightning that hung around the Bryan-College Station area.
What was initially set as a 1 p.m. first pitch to either salvage the series for one party or secure a sweep for the other, continued to meet delay after delay as the certainty of a rematch hung in the balance.
The final of three games against the Longhorns was called off after the Aggies outscored their centuries-old rival 20-12 through the first two contests, both ending in favor of the home squad. Head coach Michael Earley and his unit avenged a sweep in Austin a season ago by putting together stellar at-bats and fantastic pitching by its standards so far in 2026.
Now sharing the same Southeastern Conference record as their burnt orange adversaries, the Maroon and White hold the tiebreaker and stand at second in the league just behind No. 4 Georgia. Additionally, the 11-4 win over Texas on April 11, secured A&M’s first ranked series victory so far this season.
While far from being considered a day off, the Aggies will in essence have another day of rest before staying home to face Houston on Tuesday, April 14, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
