The City of College Station continues its three-week warrant amnesty period with a high amount of cleared warrants after the first week.
The amnesty period was created about 10 years ago to allow citizens with outstanding warrants to avoid paying a $50 per case warrant fee if fines are paid in full, according to College Station Municipal Court Judge Edward J. Spillane III.
There are currently several thousand outstanding warrants. Spillane said the first week has already cleared 48 warrants as of Thursday, making it one of the best first weeks of an amnesty period.
The City of College Station will accept cash, cashiers check, credit cards, money orders and personal checks as forms of payment. Warrants cannot be paid through College Stations online citation payment system.
Spillane said most student offenses are minors in possession.
Officials will arrest citizens with outstanding warrants during a warrant round-up March 2-10.
