Aggies in the NFL

Johnny Manziel did not play for Cleveland again last week, while Mike Evans had a quiet outing for Tampa Bay. Martellus Bennett, Von Miller and Josh Lambo were the highlights of the Aggies in the NFL. Here’s how they played.

Martellus Bennett:

The Chicago Bears tight end has been pretty solid all season long, but he broke out in a big way in his matchup against the Raiders. With Jay Cutler back at quarterback after missing last game with an injured hamstring, Bennett snatched 11 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Bennett now ranks second among NFL tight ends in receptions, and he should continue to thrive as the tight end in the Bears offense.

Von Miller:

The Denver Broncos defense has improved mightily this season, and former A&M linebacker Von Miller has played an integral role in that resurgence. In the Broncos 23-20 victory over the Vikings Sunday, his fumble recovery sealed the game. With the Vikings about to cross midfield on a last-minute drive, Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was stripped, and Miller made a skillful recovery that ensured the win for Denver. He also recorded four tackles and one sack to go along with two hits on the quarterback.

Josh Lambo:

Almost one month after beating out veteran kicker Nick Novak for the Chargers starting kicking gig, former Aggie placekicker Josh Lambo already has a game-winner to his name. He pushed a 39-yard field goal wide right as time expired, but the Browns were called for an offsides penalty. Lambo made the most of his second chance, sending a 34-yarder through the uprights to give San Diego a 30-27 win. He also made both of his other field goal attempts, a 46- and 45-yarder.
