An A&M student was arrested for possessing close to 20 ounces of marijuana on Friday, according to The Eagle.
Applied mathematics senior Lewis Smithies was served a warrant at his home where he admitted to selling marijuana and marijuana products — including cannabis-infused butter which he baked into a batch of cookies. Police found 6.73 ounces of high-grade marijuana, along with 12.96 ounces of products infused with resinous extracts of marijuana.
The 23-year-old was released on $30,000 bond from the Brazos County Detention Center for distributing an illegal substance of more than 4 grams and less than 400 grams. The count is a first degree felony, punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and up to 99 years in prison. Smithies was also charged with possession of marijuana, less than 5 pounds but greater than 4 ounces, a count punishable by up to $10,000 in fines and two years in jail.
