A&M engineering freshman Sage Northcutt recorded his second win in the octagon Thursday night.
The lightweight bout took place at UFC Fight Night at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Northcutt (7-0), currently the youngest fighter on the UFC roster, defeated Cody Pfister (12-5-1) by submission via guillotine choke 41 seconds into the second round.
Northcutt, known for his background in karate, gave up a brief takedown in the opening round, but adjusted in the second round and was able to catch Pfister with a guillotine, forcing Pfister to tap out.
Northcutt made his UFC debut at UFC 192 in October, where he defeated opponent Francisco Trevino by knockout less than a minute into the opening round. Northcutt’s victory Thursday night dropped Pfister’s UFC record to 1-2.
