A decision on an open carry bill was stalled Tuesday in the Texas House of Representatives.
The bill, HB 910, allows for licensed individuals to openly carry handguns throughout the state of Texas. Texas is one of six states that completely prohibit open carry of handguns. Thirty-one allow for open carry without a license or permit, and 13 require some form of license for open carry.
On the House floor Tuesday, Rep. Trey Fischer called a point of order, taking objection to the bill based on a violation in parliamentary procedure. Fischer stated witness testimony was recorded incorrectly.
While this does not throw out the bill indefinitely, the bill was sent back to the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee at 11:52 a.m. for further review.
