The Texas A&M softball team fell 13-0 in five innings to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday.
The No. 5 Crimson Tide (24-7, 7-3 SEC) scored early and often, opening the first inning with three runs. Alabama continued its offense in the third inning with a steal of second base, leading to another run. By the end of the third, the Tide extended their lead to 7-0.
The No. 23 Aggies (24-8, 6-4 SEC) struggled with both pitching and hitting on the day. Senior Rachel Fox got the start but couldn’t get out of the third inning, and A&M head coach Jo Evans brought in senior Lauren Ainsley to finish out the inning.
Ainsley only pitched until the fourth when freshman Kayla Ober came on in relief. The Tide continued their roll, plating six more runs to extend their lead to 13-0.
First pitch for game two of this three game series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
