No. 2 Georgia at No. 16 Ole Miss
Saturday, Nov. 9 — Vaught-Hemingway Stadium — Oxford, Mississippi
2:30 p.m. on ABC
Ole Miss put on an offensive masterclass in Week 10, demolishing the Arkansas Razorbacks, 63-31, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Georgia barely handled its business in Jacksonville, Florida after only beating lowly Florida Gators, 34-20. Redshirt senior QB Carson Beck threw three interceptions, but the Bulldog defense managed to keep things close until the offense could get going.
The Rebels’ senior QB Jaxson Dart threw six touchdowns against the Razorbacks, but things won’t be as easy come Saturday as Georgia’s defense allows just 17.3 points per game, which is the 13th-best scoring defense in the entire country. Ole Miss has been elite on both sides of the ball this year with the fourth-best scoring offense and sixth-best scoring defense, averaging 42.1 and 13.2 points, respectively. Expect Mormon Manziel to lead his home team to victory.
Prediction: Ole Miss 28, Georgia 17
South Carolina at No. 24 Vanderbilt
Saturday, Nov. 9 — FirstBank Stadium — Nashville, Tennessee
3:15 p.m. on SEC Network
South Carolina might have had the best Week 10 in the country after crushing then-No. 10 A&M, 44-20. Vanderbilt walked right into Jordan-Hare Stadium and stole a win from right under the Auburn Tigers’ noses. This victory made the Commodores bowl eligible for the first time since 2018.
Redshirt freshman QB LaNorris Sellers turned into prime Cam Newton versus the Aggies and will look to recreate that Superman magic against the Commodores when the Gamecocks make their way to FirstBank Stadium. It’s a shame graduate QB Diego Pavia doesn’t get to play Hugh Freeze every week; South Carolina’s elite defensive line will look to give Pavia nightmares come gameday. Expect the ‘Cocks to edge out the Commodores on their own home turf.
Prediction: South Carolina 24, Vanderbilt 21
No. 11 Alabama at No. 14 LSU
Saturday, Nov. 9 — Tiger Stadium — Baton Rouge, Louisiana
6:30 p.m. on ABC
Alabama shut out the then-No. 21 Missouri Tigers in Week 9 while LSU suffered a 38-23 upset loss versus the Texas A&M Aggies. However, both the Crimson Tide and the Tigers relaxed during Week 10, giving each program an extra week to prepare for what is one of the most historic rivalries in SEC history.
A matchup with huge implications on SEC rankings once known as the “Saban Bowl” now lacks former coach Nick Saban on either sideline. These two high-scoring offenses come into this battle with very different schemes, with LSU relying heavily on the passing game and Alabama utilizing a much more balanced attack. Expect the Tide’s redshirt junior quarterback Jalen Milroe to become the Tiger king on Saturday.
Prediction: Alabama 35, LSU 21
Oklahoma at Missouri
Saturday, Nov. 9 — Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium — Columbia, Missouri
6:45 p.m. on SEC Network
There aren’t enough words to describe how miserable the Oklahoma Sooners have been this season. That being said, they were victorious over Football Championship Subdivision opponent Maine, winning 59-14. Missouri enjoyed its time off in Week 10 after being bullied by Alabama, 34-0, in Week 9. The Tigers’ once-stout defense looks to rebound and make a mockery of the Sooners’ uninspiring offense.
The Sooners and coach Brent Venables hope to carry their team’s offensive firepower on the road when they face off against the Tigers in Columbia. Sophomore QB Jackson Arnold has come back from his early-season benching and captains a lackluster offense by Oklahoma’s standards. Regardless, if redshirt senior QB Brady Cook is fully active, give me the Tigers because they’re “GRRREAT.”
Prediction: Missouri 28, Oklahoma 21
