The Texas A&M women’s tennis team defeated the visiting UT-Arlington Mustangs on Thursday by a score of 5-2. Junior Anna Mamalat’s 7-6, 6-1 victory over the Mavericks’ Jessica Birowski put the Aggies up 4-0, effectively clinching the match before UTA scored a single point.
Texas A&M’s other scores came from individuals wins generated by Ines Deheza in the fourth slot, Rachel Pierson at three, and Saska Gavrilovska at the one. The Aggies also captured the doubles point at the beginning of the match.
The win moves the No. 18 Aggies (2-2) to .500 on the young season. The Aggies will host Abilene Christian Feb. 21 in their final match before the start of conference play.
