A protest against The Network, a nationwide group of non-denominational churches accused of grooming and concealing sexual assault, was held outside their local branch in College Station on Saturday. The group consisted of members from Families Against Cults on Campuses, or FACC, and Leaving The Network, two vocal groups who have protested against the group in the past.
The Network has three churches in Texas: Christland in College Station, Joshua Church in Austin and Rock River Church in San Marcos. Saturday was the second day of the church group’s fall leadership conference, which hosted leaders from all three at the Christland location.
The Network faced controversy after a whistleblower revealed in 2022 that founder Steve Morgan, the lead pastor of Joshua Church, was indicted for criminal sodomy against a minor in 1987, a charge that was later dropped after he signed an agreement saying he would attend counseling, have no contact with the alleged victim and have no involvement with youth organizations, among other stipulations. At the time, Morgan was a youth pastor in Johnson County, Kansas.
Members of FACC alleged that Morgan and other churches in The Network have manipulated and encouraged college students to cut off their family and friends who are not a part of The Network. The Battalion previously reported on allegations of spiritual and sexual abuse and manipulation surrounding Christland members who recruited students from campus.
A media truck rented by FACC circled Texas A&M on Friday showing links to FACC’s YouTube page and the Leaving The Network website, a whistleblower site that shares stories from alleged victims. The truck, with the words “Christland Crushes You” on the side, was a part of the group’s efforts to spread awareness about the alleged dangers of The Network. Other efforts included flyers spread across campus.
Roughly 20 people stood outside Christland from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday holding signs and talking to passersby. Lindsay Wahlquist, a child advocate who was a part of the protest, spoke about her concerns for vulnerable populations who may be victimized at churches with a culture of silence.
“There are member-reported, ongoing child safety concerns at The Network churches,” Wahlquist said. “They are not mandating background checks for people who work with children. They are not following mandatory reporting laws, and they are allowing criminally-charged sex abusers to continue to attend and volunteer.”
Christland’s lead pastor Sándor Paull responded to these allegations in 2022 with a written statement circulated among church leaders. The statement did not address any specific concerns in detail and reaffirmed Christland’s support for Morgan.
In Texas, failing to report child abuse or neglect is a Class A misdemeanor or a felony if it is proven in trial that the person who failed to report intended to conceal the abuse or neglect. Concerns about The Network have been circulating online since at least 2021, with blogs and subreddits dedicated to creating spaces for former members.
Wahlquist said her major concerns were with Morgan’s continued leadership of a network of churches and the continued lack of a specific response to FACC’s complaints.
Church attendees standing outside of Christland did not respond to requests for comment, and Christland leadership did not respond to inquiries sent to its main email address.
“I’m here to stand up against [Morgan],” Wahlquist said. “I’m here for the survivor, who was sexually assaulted by Steve Morgan, and for any other survivors who might be out there.”
Christland currently does not have an active student organization on campus, according to an A&M spokesperson who spoke to KBTX.

1987 was over 35 years ago. justice had been served, the victim recompensed, Steve Morgans legal obligations satisfied. Repentant and remorseful after saved nearly a decade after that. Sin known by leaders. No other history of victims for 30+ years, decades of faithfulness to Jesus and one wife, & four kids that love Jesus. Fake advocate and harassment going on. Digging and hunting for imaginary victims. Levels of harassment against pastors and current church members ultra demonic. Jesus builds, satan destroys. Always the same story.

Please read the rest of the article. This isn’t just about the pastor, but also the alleged encouragement to cut off family, the lack of mandated background checks, and the lack of following of reporting laws. Just because a man is Christian does not make him a good person. Bad Christians exist too!

I am not imaginary! I have sat inside this church and knew nothing of this man’s history or the fact that the local pastor Sandor Paull kept this secret. Steve Morgan was kicked out of the Mormon church after he sodomized the 15 yr old camper that he was the Camp Pastor at! So he started his own church. Made up all the rules and made himself the head. Christland was planted here from up North. They chose College Station for its proximity to Texas A&M. This network of churches is known to groom young men into a pastor role with no seminary training.

Steve Morgan, Network President & Lead pastor at Joshua Church in Austin, TX raped a 15 yr old child while he was a pastor in an RLDS church (case #K-53903). This has been deliberately hidden and played down by Network leaders as “an inappropriate homosexual relationship” which proves Morgan isn’t repentant. Regardless it doesn’t absolve him from accountability to be transparent to the people he leads. People have a right to know their leader’s past & qualifications. None of the Network leaders reveal Steve’s past or his authority over them and when asked about it, they’ve all lied. There is no mention of Morgan on any of their websites….Why? LeavingTheNetwork.org has been the only way for members to learn the truth. Biblically & morally he is unfit to lead as there has been a 20 years of hiding his past, hiding his overarching authority over 25 churches (as per their bylaws) & hiding countless abuses taking place reported by 1000’s of former members. AND ITS NOT HIS ONLY ACT OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT!! He admitted to the men he appointed he publically masturbated at Snow Lake, a federal park in WA in 2007 – daytime, where he could have been seen. If this is what he confesses to men he appoints, who knows how much more there is? These predatory churches obfuscate their connection to Morgan, all but 1 have zero seminary training and the 1 who does isn’t in the U.S., and they deliberately plant in college towns to groom young students in. There have been countless people reporting pressure to tithe from student loans, their careers were derailed, dating controlled, and worst of all told to cut off their families! Steve Morgan is not the victim here. His 1987 arrest for aggravated criminal sodomy of a minor is not something that can be brushed aside. He hid it from the Vineyard Church leaders who were his authority—he did not come forward in repentance on his own. That kind of deception raises serious red flags about his leadership and integrity.
“Justice served”? Legal obligations satisfied don’t erase the damage done. The real victims are the people hurt by his actions and by the toxic culture he fostered in Network churches. Decades of “faithfulness” don’t undo the harm. The fact that more victims are coming forward shows this isn’t just a case of “harassment.” These are real people who were silenced and dismissed for years.
Calling it “ultra demonic” to seek justice for victims is outrageous. If anyone’s being harassed, it’s the victims, not Steve Morgan or the pastors who defend him. And Jesus doesn’t “build” through unchecked abuse and manipulation—calling that work Satanic is just a smokescreen to avoid accountability

So then I guess a pastor who masturbated in public after skinny dipping in a pond that sits in a busy park, would that be ok for a pastor? That’s the message I got from Sandor, when he said “find me a man who hasn’t masturbated, I will buy him a taco?” Now I’m not a pastor and have no theological training (which also the pastors of this network don’t either), but I’m fairly certain the Bible calls leaders and pastors of the church to be above reproach. I don’t think this type of behavior is above reproach. I also don’t think is appropriate for him to “confess” this sin to a male, several years younger than him.

You say no victims for 35 years?
As a mental health counselor I want you to understand there are many forms of abuse in this broken world
Besides sexual.
Emotional, physical, control, manipulation, spiritual just to mention a few. The network pastors are not led by JESUS but by Steve Morgan. This is not biblical they want your dollars your time your energy your family. Why? To continue to foster spiritual abuse. We lost a grandsughter to this church HOW DARE YOU MINIMIZE OUR PAIN
She also lost 4 families all Christians who pray for her to find our Lord again.
Can you please do that with us?
