In a move rendered void by the Yell Leaders’ decision to scrap the original student election results and hold a revote, the Texas A&M SGA J-Court called for a recount of the original votes.
In an opinion released Monday on the case of Gregory Lanier v. Election Commissioner Emma Douglas and Senior Yell Leader-elect Steven Lanz, the court found that Douglas erred in tallying the votes from the Feb. 19-20 election.
“Therefore, the results of the Senior and Junior Yell Leader votes declared by the Election Commission are invalid, and thus will not be certified,” the opinion read.
The ruling demands a recount with the existing data.
However, the Yell Leaders announced Friday they will nullify the votes and conduct a revote Wednesday. Students can vote at voteyell.tamu.edu between 6 a.m.-11:59 p.m.
