McIntosh Hearing

A&M Judicial Court case #69-02 regarding the disqualification of student body president candidate Robert McIntosh for failure to report a campaign expense will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Koldus 110 and will be open to the public.
Initially garnering the greatest number of votes in the 2017 SBP election, McIntosh was removed from the race after being charged with two disqualification-level violations, the first being 14 reported incidents of voter intimidation and the second being failure to report a campaign expense.
After a previous trial in which McIntosh appealed the counts of voter intimidation, the Court ruled 5-2 in McIntosh’s favor, dropping the charges.
“The Court rules to overturn the Appellee’s [Rachel Keathley] decision to disqualify Student Body President Candidate Robert McIntosh on grounds of voter fraud, as it is the opinion of these Justices that no such definition can reasonably be applied to the actions of the Appellant given the evidence provided,” the Court’s ruling said.
However, since failure to report a campaign expense is also considered a disqualification-level charge, this second, separate trial must be held before the final results of the 2017 SBP election can be decided.
Although the trial is open to the public, seating will be limited.
