The University of Texas at Austin and North Dakota State University received bomb threats to multiple buildings that prompted an evacuation of all buildings on campus Friday morning.
University of Texas President Bill Powers said at a news conference, “We are working very closely with city, state and federal authorities and there is a lot of information that comes from that. We are very confident that the campus is safe.”
All remaining Friday classes were cancelled at the university. Non-class activities are scheduled to resume at 5 p.m. The university remained under emergency conditions until about 11:30 a.m. Friday.
North Dakota State University campus was evacuated after a bomb threat they received at about 9:45 a.m. NDSU issued a statement before 10 a.m. telling all students and employees to evacuate the campus within a half-hour due to a bomb threat.
The school was reopened at 1 p.m. after the school was searched and deemed safe. Classes resumed at 2 p.m..
Authorities are working to determine if the two threats are related.
