The Aggies returned home Saturday morning to host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits (2-3) at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. The individual scores were close, but No. 9 A&M pulled ahead, gaining an overall record of 2-1.
The Aggie women, who were coming off a loss to SMU, claimed a 15-4 win over SDSU, earning the title in all four riding categories.
Junior Marlena Parker scored a match-high 90 points on fences. Sophomore Sarah Kate Grider scored a high 71.5 points on reining to help the Aggies claim the category and sophomore Rachel Lucht scored a high 75 points on horsemanship, giving her a vital one-point advantage over SDSU’s Lexus Hoffman.
Next month, the Aggies are scheduled to face several top-10 teams, four of which are in the SEC. They will travel to Blythewood, South Carolina, to face the No. 4 Gamecocks on Friday.
