Following the College Football Playoff selection show on Sunday, Dec. 7, No. 7 Texas A&M football will take on No. 10 Miami in the first round of the CFP. The Aggies will make their first ever CFP appearance in two weeks on Saturday, Dec. 20 in an 11 a.m. kickoff at Kyle Field.
The Aggies were set to have a rematch with No. 11 Notre Dame, according to Tuesday’s CFP ranking. However, the CFP Committee couldn’t ignore the head-to-head win for Miami, putting the Hurricanes in and the Fighting Irish out.
With both teams holding wins over Notre Dame, A&M comes into the first round at 11-1 with its only loss to rival No. 13 Texas. Meanwhile, Miami is 10-2 after dropping a pair of games against Louisville and SMU. The Aggies and Hurricanes recently played a home-and-home series against each other with A&M claiming the victory in 2022, but Miami winning the rematch in 2023.
The winner will head to the quarterfinals to take on No. 2 Ohio State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
