Texas A&M women’s basketball senior guard Ny’Ceara Pryor was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team and All-Defensive Team on Tuesday, March 3.
Pryor is the first Aggie to earn All-SEC Honors since the 2020-21 season and the first to be named to the All-Defensive team in 10 years. The Sacred Heart transfer is the shortest player in SEC history to be named to the All-Defensive team, standing at 5-foot-3.
Leading the SEC in steals per game with 3.5, Pryor is the third player in conference history to record multiple steals in all 16 conference contests. Racking up 54 total steals, the Baltimore native leads the SEC, with the third most by any player since the 1999-2000 season.
Pryor led the SEC with eight double-doubles in points and assists, making history as the first player since the turn of the century to have four straight double-doubles in conference play. The Aggies’ standout G ranks fourth nationally in assists, averaging 7.2 while also leading her team with 15.9 points per game.
Aided by Pryor’s outstanding play, A&M has won 6 of its last 7 games, ending the regular season on a five-game win streak. In that stretch, Pryor averaged 17.7 points, 8.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game, leading the Aggies to victories over three ranked opponents and securing a pair of Quad 1 road wins. With their NCAA Tournament odds rising, the Maroon and White climbed 31 spots in the NET and 23 in the Win Above Bubble rankings.
“We’re staying humble in it,” Pryor said. “We still have more room to grow and more areas to get better in. I definitely think that this team deserves to be in the tournament.”
The Aggies and Pryor will look to keep their winning streak alive in the first round of the SEC Tournament against the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday, March 4, at 5 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
