Aggie Volleyball Preview

For the first time in nearly three weeks, the A&M volleyball team will host a home match when they take on South Carolina Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
The Aggies (10-6, 4-1 SEC) are ridding on a four-game winning streak, while the Gamecocks (13-4, 1-4 SEC) have struggled in the beginning of conference play, dropping their last three games after going a perfect 12-0 in pre-conference action.
This past Monday, sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn Blake earned SEC Player of the Week honors and was also named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after strong performances against Arkansas and Ole Miss last week. Blake leads the SEC in blocks per set (1.61) and is third in the nation in that category.
The Gamecocks are led by a pair of freshman, Mikayla Shields and Alicia Star. Shields leads the team in hitting percentage (.338) and kills per set (2.95) this season, while Star has stepped up in conference play, posting a team-best .418 hitting percentage in league play.
Promotions are also slated for Friday’s match, as the first 100 fans will receive a free Chick-fil-A cookie and all fans at the game can be entered in a drawing to win free Chick-fil-A milkshakes for an entire year.
