In the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected graduate student tight end Nate Boerkircher with the 56th overall pick.
Boerkircher is the fourth Texas A&M player to hear his name called in this year’s draft, adding to the abundant list of Aggies gone-pro in 2026.
Despite only playing one season at A&M, Boerkircher made an immediate impact on the Maroon and White, with a career high of 19 receptions, 198 yards and three touchdowns in his final season of college football. Before transferring to A&M, the Aurora, Nebraska native stayed close to home, playing at Nebraska for three years, totaling 19 receptions, 219 yards and a touchdown for the Cornhuskers.
Boerkircher was a force to be reckoned with in high school, earning Class C-1 All State honors as a senior, while leading his team to a perfect record and state championship in his junior year. His greatest moment with A&M is undoubtedly the last-second game-tying touchdown catch versus then-No. 8 Notre Dame, en route to the Aggies’ 41-40 victory over the Fighting Irish in South Bend, Indiana.
“I think he’s a really good player,” head coach Mike Elko said after A&M’s game against Samford. “He makes it easy. He’s a pure tight end. I think having him and Theo [Melin Öhrström] on the field, both of those kids have the ability to do both. They can block, they can run routes, they can catch the ball.”
An old school tight end, Boerkircher now finds himself in Jacksonville under head coach Liam Coen and offensive coordinator Grant Udinski.
