COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Oct. 12 — Following a 7-4 loss against Arizona State University, the Texas A&M ice hockey team is looking to improve a 3-7 season record when they take to the rink against the Horned Frogs on Oct. 18.
After a decisive 12-6 win against TCU last season, the Aggies are facing the 3-0 Horned Frogs on the heels of TCU’s back-to-back wins against the University of Texas and SMU. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Spirit Ice Arena in College Station.
Coming off the Oct. 6 loss, Blinn Team freshman forward Brendan Pierce said the Aggies are preparing well and are hungry for a win.
“After losing to Arizona State, we have been working on being ready to go, putting up our best game for when the puck drops at the end of the third period,” Pierce said.
Though the Aggies walked away from TCU with a win in the 2023-24 season, the Horned Frogs are coming in with an undefeated start to their season.
“The team’s pretty fired up, ready to get some wins back, which will drive some energy this upcoming weekend,” Pierce said.
With the team currently 1-1 in Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference play, Pierce said the men are hoping to make it back into the playoffs this year.
The Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference was founded in 2016 to bring organization and structure to Texas college hockey teams competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men’s Division II.
In the 2023 season, the Aggies made it to round one of the TCHC playoffs before a loss to UNT ended their time on the ice.
“We have a great group of guys both on and off the ice that are ready to give their best effort every practice and every game,” Pierce said.
