According to a Texas A&M University System press release, Chancellor John Sharp announced a new program Thursday that will provides over 50,000 Texas A&M University System employees, retirees and their dependents free access to second opinions from doctors across the country.
The service, provided through 2nd M.D., a Houston based company, gives clients the ability to consult over 300 nationally recognized specialists across the U.S., including individuals from such institutions as Johns Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic, according to the release.
The release stated employees, retirees and dependents already covered by plans such as the A&M Care Plan, J Plan or 65+ Plan will have the opportunity to receive second opinions concerning diagnosis, surgery and treatment at no extra cost.
Texas A&M University System is the first public institution to partner with 2nd M.D.
