The Board of Regents approved the appointment of Pamela Matthews as the new dean of the College of Liberal Arts Wednesday afternoon.
Matthews, an English professor, joined the Texas A&M faculty in 1989 and has served as the interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts since July 2014. Matthews has previously served as vice provost and as associate head for the Department of English.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed Dean of the College of Liberal Arts,” Matthews said in a university release. “I still can’t quite believe it, and I am humbled by others’ confidence in me.”
A statement released on behalf of provost Karan Watson said the appointment will be effective immediately, and thanked the members of the search advisory committee.
