Freshman guard Chennedy Carter was named National Player of the Week by espnW Monday morning after a record performance in Texas A&M’s nail-biting 75-74 win over USC on Friday.
Carter scored a school-record 46 points, including the game-winner with 10.9 seconds remaining to lift the Aggies over the Trojans.
Her 46-point outburst was the most points scored by a freshman in the nation since Delware’s Elena Delle Donne dropped 54 in her rookie campaign during the 2009-10 season.
Carter also became the third Aggie to be tabbed National Player of the Week by espnW, joining Courtney Walker (2015) and Kelsey Bone (2012)
For the season, Carter leads the team with 21.0 points per game, which ranks 19th in the nation.
The Aggies return to the court on Wednesday when they take on Hawaii in Las Vegas as part of Duel in the Desert. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
