Texas A&M men’s basketball junior guard Wade Taylor IV was named the Naismith Trophy National Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 12.
Taylor led the Aggies to a 2-0 week with wins over Missouri and No. 6 Tennessee. In the two victories, he averaged 21.5 points on 44.1% shooting, including a 45.5% 3-point performance on 11 attempts in the upset against the Volunteers.
The Dallas native also had 10 assists, eight rebounds, five steals and only turned the ball over three times last week.
This season, Taylor leads the team in scoring with 19.9 points per game, 87 total assists, 51 steals, 59 3-pointers and 111 free throws. He is currently ranked 30th in the nation in scoring, but is the nation’s leading scorer amongst players with at least 80 assists and 50 steals.
The Aggies are 15-8 on the year and are tied for fifth in the SEC with a 6-4 conference record. Taylor and company return to action this week with matchups versus Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and No. 15 Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 17.
