The duo of Texas A&M junior defensive linemen Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart have both officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Scourton and Stewart are projected as first-round picks, according to multiple draft analysts.
Stewart, a former five-star recruit from Miami, spent three seasons with the Aggies. Over 37 games, he tallied 65 tackles and 4.5 sacks. A key member of A&M’s legendary 2022 recruiting class — the highest-ranked recruiting class in college football history — Stewart left his mark on the program both on and off the field.
“To the incredible fans of Texas A&M: thank you for your unwavering support,” Stewart said in his announcement. “The passion and energy you bring to Kyle Field and beyond are what make Aggieland so unique. The 12th Man is more than a slogan — it’s a family, and I’ve been blessed to be a part of it.”
Scourton, a Bryan native, transferred to A&M in 2024 after two impressive seasons with Purdue, where he led the Big Ten in sacks with 10 in 2023. In his lone season repping Maroon and White, he anchored the defensive line, recording 37 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble in 12 games. Once an unranked prospect out of Bryan High School, Scourton has become a potential top-10 NFL Draft pick.
Coach Mike Elko faces the challenge of replacing these two defensive stars, whose leadership experience and on-field production will be difficult to replicate. Both players leave a lasting legacy in Aggieland and now have their eyes set on the NFL.
